Dr. Marc Garfinkel - Memorial Pancreas and Kidney Transplant Program and Surgery Services | Memorial Medical Center

Dr. Marc Garfinkel

Dr. Garfinkel, a transplant surgeon, is surgical director for Memorial Transplant Services. His practice is in general surgery with special emphasis in kidney and pancreas transplantation and living donor laparoscopic nephrectomy (removal of a living donor's kidney with less invasive laparoscopic surgery methods). He is located with SIU Healthcare and is also an Associate Professor with the SIU School of Medicine's Division of General Surgery.

He is responsible for evaluating potential kidney and pancreas transplant recipients as well as potential living kidney donor patients and overseeing their surgical management after transplant. Dr. Garfinkel is fellowship trained in kidney, pancreas, and islet transplantation. He has studied and trained at University of California at San Diego and Duke University, and was with the University of Chicago Hospitals Transplant Center for eight years prior to joining SIU and Memorial.

Dr. Bradford West

Dr. West is the medical director of Memorial Pancreas and Kidney Transplant Program and Surgery Services and oversees all aspects of medical care delivery during the pre- and post-operative phases of kidney and pancreas transplantation at Memorial Medical Center. He evaluates potential kidney and pancreas transplant recipients, as well as potential living kidney donor patients. Dr. West oversees immunosuppression medication management after transplant.

Dr. David Rea - Memorial Pancreas and Kidney Transplant Program and Surgery Services | Memorial Medical Center

Dr. David Rea

Dr. Rea is a transplant and general surgeon specializing in kidney and pancreas transplantation and laparoscopic living donor nephrectomy. He is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the SIU School of Medicine's Division of General Surgery. In addition to transplant and general surgery, Dr. Rea has interest and experience in dialysis access surgery. His research has focused on kidney and pancreas transplant outcomes as well as pancreas and hepatobiliary neoplasia.
