Stroke Care

If you or someone with you has signs of a stroke, call 911 immediately and stay on the phone for help. Do not drive to the hospital. EMTs and paramedics have the ability to evaluate, and in some cases, begin treatment immediately for stroke.

When you arrive at the hospital with signs of a stroke, Memorial's dedicated Stroke Response Team is ready to swing into action. We provide advanced digital imaging and instant, expert analysis.

Our 94% survival rate for stroke patients — compared to a national average of 75% — is only part of why our stroke program is one of the best. We understand that surviving the stroke is the first step; next is the best recovery possible.

As the number three killer in America, stroke is the leading cause of adult disability. That’s why we give you access to the only program in downstate Illinois that is CARF-accredited for:

  • rehab facilities
  • comprehensive rehabilitation brain injury program
  • spinal cord systems of care
  • stroke specialty
  • outpatient medical rehabilitation program

We’re proud to be only one of four healthcare facilities in the world to share this unique distinction. Thanks to the dedication of our stroke rehabilitation experts, approximately 80 percent of stroke patients who receive therapy at five-fold accredited Memorial Rehab Services resume community living.
