Memorial Bariatric Services Surgeon Dr. Max Hammer

Max Hammer, M.D., FACS

Dr. Hammer, a surgeon with Springfield Clinic, leads our medical team. Dr. Hammer is widely recognized among his professional peers for his advanced skill in laparoscopic surgical methods and has specialized in minimally invasive bariatric surgical techniques since the 1990s. He has received specialized training in the area of weight loss and obesity medicine. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.


Orlando J. Icaza, Jr., M.D., FACS

Dr. Icaza is a surgeon with the Springfield Clinic since 2000. He is the Assistant Medical Director of the Bariatric Program. Dr. Icaza is highly specialized in advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic general and bariatric surgery. He has received specialized training in endoscopic procedures in the area of bariatric surgery and weight loss. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine, and completed his surgical residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. He is baord certified by he American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.


Elizabeth Warner, MD Memorial Bariatric Services

Elizabeth Warner, MD

Dr. Warner is a general surgeon with Springfield Clinic, specializing in bariatric and advanced laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Warner is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Medicine in Houston, completing her residency at the University of Florida. She is a fellowship-trained minimally invasive general and bariatric surgeon from the University of Washington in Seattle. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.


 Adam Reid, MD

 Dr. Adam Reid recently joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as Assistant Professor of Surgery and a partner of the surgical critical care team with specialized training in minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery. Dr. Reid will see patients with the Southern Illinois Trauma surgical team as well as in a general surgery clinic setting.

Prior to joining SIU, he completed fellowships in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center as well as surgical critical care at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dr. Reid earned his medical degree and completed his general surgery residency at SIU School of Medicine.

Dr. Reid is board certified in general surgery and surgical critical care through the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and Society of Critical Care Medicine.
