Colleague Giving Campaign

Every year, Memorial Health System colleagues have the opportunity to make a difference in our organization by giving back through our Colleague Giving Campaign. Whether big or small, the combined gifts have a great impact on Memorial’s colleagues and the people and communities we serve.

Every donation makes a difference

All donations to Colleague Giving stay within Memorial Health System. Colleagues may choose to restrict their donations to a specific fund or affiliate. Here are some of the most popular restricted funds in past years:

  • Nursing Excellence Fund
  • Cancer Patient Assistance fund
  • Memorial Behavioral Health
  • SystemCare
  • Compassion Leave

Colleagues may choose that their donation remain unrestricted. These gifts will be used to fund grants awarded by the Memorial Medical Center Foundation to support patient care, education and clinical research throughout Memorial Health System.

Colleague Giving History

In 1989, a group of Memorial colleagues developed a plan to encourage co-workers to give back to support projects and programs at Memorial Medical Center. This early effort became known as MASH, which stood for Memorial Annually Supports Health. Colleagues at Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Physician Services, Memorial Homes Services, Memorial Behavioral Health and Memorial Health System Corporate participated in colleague giving with the Memorial Medical Center Foundation.
Since the first MASH campaign over 30 years ago, Memorial colleagues have donated more than $5.7 million to support patients, co-workers, education and research throughout Memorial Health System.

In 2021, Colleague Giving evolved and became a system-wide campaign.  Memorial Medical Center Foundation, along with the other affiliate hospital foundations of Memorial Health System, joined together to create one annual colleague giving campaign.  Colleagues throughout the health system may support any affiliate or multiple affiliates as the campaign will be held simultaneously across the system during the month of June.

Funds At Work

Through their gifts, colleagues improve our organization and the lives of patients and co-workers. Colleagues can choose how their gift is used.

Unrestricted Donations

Unrestricted donations fund grants for patient care, education and clinical research initiatives. Departments and affiliates may apply for grants. Click here to access the grant application and guidelines.

  • Memorial Medical Center Foundation approved an out-of-cycle grant in early 2021 to the MHS Organization Learning division for EMS training. Click here to learn more about this grant to provide required instructional material for 32 EMS agencies in nine counties.

Restricted Donations

Restricted donations are directed to a specific fund or Memorial affiliate.
Ways departments and affiliates have used their restricted donations include:

  • The Hospice Fund purchased American flags that will be distributed through the We Honor Veterans program.
  • MBH used a combination of colleague gifts and external donor gifts to offset the cost of the COVID-19 emotional support hotline.
  • Social Services purchased reading glasses, phone chargers and clothing for patients to use during their stay or upon discharge.

Donor Wall

The Colleague Giving Donor Wall, located outside of the Memorial Medical Center Cafeteria, recognizes the colleagues who made a donation to the annual campaign. Next time you visit Memorial Medical Center, be sure to take a look at the impressive list of colleagues who are making a difference within our organization by giving back.
