Grant in Action: Quality Project Competition

SIU residents and fellows showcase research

Our generous donors allow the Foundation to continually invest in the future of healthcare.

Congratulations to all participants!

One of our grants awarded in 2017 focused on a quality improvement competition for SIU School of Medicine residents and fellows. The posters were on display at Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation on Feb. 19, 2018.

Of 17 outstanding projects to improve healthcare, three stood out above the rest:  1st place - Dr. Shreya Lankala (Emergency Medicine) showcased her work to decrease cost and antibiotic use for urinary tract infections. 2nd place - Dr. Mishika Malik (Pediatrics) highlighted how to improve care for infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome. 3rd place - Dr. Kris Chang (Pediatrics) researched the benefit and feasibility of introducing a pain-reducing product to SIU's pediatric clinics.
