Healthcare Career Education Grant Application Deadline Extended to June 1

TAYLORVILLE – The Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation is extending its deadline for aspiring healthcare professionals to apply for its Healthcare Career Education Grant to June 1.

“Supporting the studies of students reflects the mission of both the foundation and the hospital,” said Billy Williams, president and grants committee chairman of the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation. “We are confident in our investment in students, the hospital and our community.”

Awards range from $1,500 for a CNA to up to $30,000 for a graduate degree.

“At the direction of the board, we have made a commitment to invest in workforce development at TMH through this grant program. We are proud to support local students pursuing degrees in healthcare with the opportunity to work at or extend their commitment to TMH upon degree completion,” said Raedena Ryan, executive director of the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation. “The ability to invest in talented future care providers is possible thanks to our generous donors support of the Healthcare Career Education Grant program.”

Kami Kingery, a registered nurse who works in the acute care department at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, credits the foundation for an education grant that allowed her to focus on her studies while finishing a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Millikin University.

In 2018, Kingery received the foundation’s first $25,000 Healthcare Career Education Grant. A graduate of Morrisonville High School and Lakeland College, the 39-year-old appreciated the investment the foundation made in her.

“To know that TMH Foundation was invested in me before I even began employment was such a great feeling,” Kingery said. “The process to apply was easy. Receiving this education grant was a significant accomplishment and a source of support in my academic success.”
