Friends of Memorial Logo

Friends of Memorial Medical Center is a group of committed and passionate individuals who support Memorial Medical Center’s mission through education and service.

Friends of Memorial’s impact on the health of the community stretches far outside the walls of the hospital. Friends has a rich history of creating and supporting programs such as the Festival of Trees and SCRUBS; and is well-known for its current programs: the Babysitting Clinic and the “I’m Going to be a Big Brother/Sister” (BBBS) class. Members may also volunteer as part of our “Friends on Call” sub-committee, which provides opportunities for spontaneous volunteering throughout the year as needs arise.

Those who have supported Friends through service on our committees, as a chair or committee member, are eligible for nomination to our Board of Directors.

Babysitting Clinic

For children aged 11 and older, these free, interactive, half-day clinics help kids become “Super Sitters”. Hosted at the Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation, participants will walk away feeling prepared to provide safe, fun babysitting experiences to those they care for. Volunteers may help design this clinic, staff the day-of activities, monitor inventory, assemble packets, promote the clinic in the community, and ensure a successful event for our future “Super Sitters”.

(If you are looking to register for this class, you may call 217-788-3333 or go online to www.MemorialMedical.com/Events.)

"I'm Going to be a Big Brother/Sister" Class

Soon-to-be brothers and sisters, typically aged 3-6, get ready for the arrival of a new sibling through this interactive program. This free class includes refreshments, a nursery tour, videos, teacher instruction, and a small gift for the new baby. Volunteers may help monitor inventory, order supplies, assist families at the events, and/or interact with the children becoming new siblings.

(If you are looking to register for this class, you may call 217-788-3352.)
