Lung Volume Reduction Surgery for Emphysema
Memorial Medical Center and the SIU School of Medicine Cardiothoracic Surgery Division joined together to form a unique team to provide the highest quality care to severe emphysema and COPD patients undergoing Lung Volume Reducation Surgery (LVRS).
Memorial is the first hospital in Illinois to receive certification for its LVRS program from the Joint Commission. Memorial is one of only six hospitals in the nation to receive certification from the Joint Commission under its Disease Specific Certification Program for LVRS.
In the video below, two patients share how Lung Volume Reduction Surgery changed their lives, and Dr. Stephen Hazelrigg describes the LVRS process.
Memorial's Heart and Vascular Services offers a multidisciplinary approach in the care of LVRS patients. Team members from the following areas provide care to you while you are in the program:
- Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation
