Once you are diagnosed and treated, your level of care continues. Our team of registered nurses, exercise physiologists, and support staff are ready to help you get back on your feet again.
We provide three phases of rehabilitation:
- Phase I occurs within 24 hours of surgery, helping patients to become ambulatory again and prepare to go home.
- Phase II takes place in the hospital's exercise area, in which rehabilitation efforts are prescribed and closely monitored by therapists, physiologists, and other team members.
- Phase III happens at Gus and Flora Kerasotes YMCA at the corner of Iles and Archer Elevator Roads in Springfield. Sessions during Phase III are supervised by a registered nurse and include aerobic classes, recumbent bicycles, treadmills, stair machines and whirlpools.
The latest advancement in congestive heart failure (CHF) monitoring, this interactive home monitoring system provides a two-way communication between patients and their health care providers at Memorial Heart and Vascular Services.
Each morning, patients step on the scale, answer a series of questions about current symptoms and the data is automatically transmitted to Memorial Heart & Vascular Services, where it will be reviewed by one of our Heart Support nurses.
This system has been especially beneficial for our patients in outlying areas to reduce the number of trips that are made to be admitted to the hospital.
