The Leaders in Trauma Care
When emergencies happen, you want surgeons and nursing teams who have years of experience working together. The Southern Illinois Trauma Center (SITC) at Memorial is the only Level 1 Trauma center in the region that offers a team of surgeons, nurses and support staff who live and work in central Illinois. The SITC at Memorial cares for 1,200 injured patients each year from an 18-county service area.
The Trauma team works with Memorial’s Emergency Department. With more trauma-certified nurses than any other hospital in the region, Memorial’s Emergency nurses are trained specifically to help treat the worst injuries.
Our Trauma surgeons have been working with specialists from SIU, Springfield Clinic and the Orthopedic Center of Illinois for 15 years. They collaborate to offer patients outstanding care from an established network of local physicians and surgeons.
