Sajjad Mueed, MD, Memorial Stroke Center Medical Director, oversees Memorial's Stroke Center program. The goal of our program is to partner with the patient and their family and emphasize the individual person. Our team strives to exceed industry standards in teh service we provide and the outcomes we achiever, and to do it with compassion and efficiency.
The Inpatient Stroke, Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA) program at Memorial Medical Center is an interdisciplianry, intensive treatment program for patients following a stroke. In order to address the complex and multiple life changes brought about by stroke, we designed an intensive treatment program that focuses both on the patient and family.
Our continuum of care includes specialized neurologic care units, a dedicated neuro-interventional radiology suite, CARF-accredited inpatient rehabilitation, home rehabilitation services and a broad range of outpatient neurodiagnostic and rehabilitation services in multiple clinic locations.
Sajjad Mueed, MD is medical director of Memorial Stroke Center and specializes in adult neurology. He earned his medical degree at Quaid-e-Azam Medical College in Pakistan, completed his residency in neurology and fellowships in epilepsy and clinical neurophysicology, and stroke and cerebrovascular diseases at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
As assistant professor at SIU School of Medicine, Dr. Mueed is board certified in psychiatry and neuology, sleep medicine, vascular neurology and electrodiagnostic medicine.
Amanda Conn, RN, BSN, is the stroke center program coordinator for neuromuscular sciences at Memorial Medical Center. As Program Coordinator, Amanda helps guide patients through the continuum of care by acting as the clinical liaison and communication link between patients, families and the medical and clinical staff. Her responsibilities include maintaining quality standards for responsive service and professional documentation while equivalently implementing evidence-based care protocols.
Amanda provides leadership, direction and mentorship to staff to support achievement of excellent patient-care outcomes specific to stroke. She also serves as the program's consultant for stroke-related intiatives including coordination of services and workflow processes that facilitiate quality outcomes achieved in an efficient manner; all of which are consistent with Memorial's service excellence model, mission and vision.
Augusto Elias, DDS, MD, specializes in neurointerventional radiology. He earned his doctor of dental surgery degree at Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in New York, N.Y. He earned his medical degree at Universidad Central Del Caribe School of Medicine in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He completed a diagnostic radiology residency and neuroradiology fellowship both at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He completed a neurointerventional radiology fellowship at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor.
Dr. Elias is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. He is a member of the American College of Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, American Society of Head and Neck Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, European Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology, American Society of Neuroradiology, European Society of Neuroradiology, Society of Neurointerventioal Surgery and the Alpha Omega Alpha.
Robert C. Burke, MD, specializes in diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology. He is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. He earned his medical degree at Southern University School of Medicine in Springfield. He compelted his diagnostic radiology residency at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago and completed an interventional radiology fellowship at University of Chicago Medical Center.
Casey Muehle, MD, specializes in diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology. Hi is board certified by the American Baord of Radiology. He earned his medical degree from the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine in LaJolla. He completed a diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics and completed a fellowship in angiography and interventional radiology at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in Charlottesville.
Craig P. Russo, MD, specializes in neuroradiology and serves as medical director for Memorial Medical Center and Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Dr. Russo is board certified by the American Board of Radiology in diagnostic radiology with subspecialty certification in neuroradiology.
