This course is part of the series Bariatric Online Orientation.
Available Credits: 1.00
Course DescriptionIn this module, we will explore the problem of obesity. We will define obesity and review obesity trends in the U.S. It’s also important to understand the complex causes of obesity so we can work to treat all aspects of this chronic disease. Obesity is also related to other health problems, or co-morbid conditions, which impact health and quality of life. We will review co-morbidities related to obesity in this module. Guidelines for bariatric surgery have been established by the National Institute of Health. This module will describe those guidelines so you may understand if surgery is right for you. Finally, we will review other factors, such as motivation level, psychological and social factors, to consider before surgery. By the end of this module, we hope you will have a better idea if bariatric surgery, or weight loss surgery, is right for you.
