The Regional Cancer Center offers an outpatient infusion unit. Patients who are able to walk (ambulatory) and are able to participate in their care can be given cancer treatments as outpatients.
The Infusion Unit is adjacent to the Garden Court on the lower level of Memorial Medical Center and is staffed by specially trained and certified oncology nurses. Cancer chemotherapy in the form of injections or infusions is given in a comfortable setting under the watchful care of the unit nurses.
In addition to chemotherapy, the unit offers infusion services to patients with many different non-cancer diagnoses. Injectable or intravenous therapies such as antibiotics, blood products, and hydrating fluids are given in the Infusion Unit. Ask your doctor if you are a candidate to get your treatment as an outpatient on the infusion unit.
