Endowments
An endowment fund is a permanently restricted fund. The principal amount of the endowment fund stays intact, and earnings are utilized for the intended purpose. A percentage of the earnings is generally left in the fund to increase the fund principal. As the principal increases, the amount available for use each year also increases.
Donations can be made to any of the following endowment funds held by Memorial Medical Center Foundation. For more information about any of these funds or about estabishing an endowment fund, please contact the Foundation at (217) 788-4700.
Lorayne Bateman Hallstien Endowment - Funds in-service training grants for nursing staff.
Linda S. Culver Endowment - Unrestricted.
Derek Dolenc Cancer Patient Assistance Fund -
Provides financial assistance for cancer patients treated at Memorial's Regional Cancer Center.

The Duty Family Endowment Fund - Supports continuing education for nursing staff members and interdisciplinary colleagues.
Endowed Fellowship in Nursing Fund - Provides funding for continuing education for current nurses and funding for nursing students.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee W. Ensel Scholarship Endowment - Provides professional nursing education scholarships to Memorial Home Services employees.
Lester Friedman Endowment - Unrestricted.
Friends of Memorial Endowment - Funds support educational outreach programs and projects in the community.
Hospice Care of Illinois Endowment - Funds support Hospice Care of Illinois activities.
Susan B. House Endowment - Unrestricted.
Anne and J. Gale Katterhagen Endowment - Supports general operations of Memorial Home Services.
H.J. (Hack) Kellner Professorship in Cardiology - Supports annual funding to physicians specializing in cardiology and/or cardiac/thoracic surgery.
Mayme I. Lawrence Nursing Education - Scholarships to Memorial Home Services employees for advanced professional nursing education.
Alpha A. Lee Nursing Endowment - Provides loan/scholarships to nursing students.
Dr. David B. Lewis Memorial Endowment - Underwrites the expenses of having distinguished speakers address the medical imaging services department.
Dr. & Mrs. Arthur M. Lindsay Educational Endowment - Supports professional development programs for emergency medical services employees.
Memorial Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Educational Endowment - Provides scholarships for nursing students (BSN or Masters).
Dr. Robert Jess Patton Visiting Professorship - Supports annual funding to attract a nationally/internationally recognized surgeon to conduct an educational symposium for students at the SIU School of Medicine and for local physicians.
Charles Ritchie Endowment - Funds to be used on an annual basis to provide educational opportunities for the staff of Hospice Care of Illinois.
Robert J. Saner Educational Endowment - Provides internal educational opportunities for all MMC departments.
Ross A. Schlich Memorial Scholarship Endowment - Supports respiratory therapy.
The Staab Family of Staab Funeral Home, Springfield Award for Excellence of
Nursing - Supports professional development activities for nursing staff.
State Farm Classic Breast Health Endowment Fund - Supports the on-going efforts of risk assessment activities, periodic acquisition of resource materials for the Patient Education Center, and support of community education activities.
Guerry and Michelle Suggs Fund For Athletic Medicine - Supports annual symposium in athletic medicine.
